Only 8. Slow day. 15 laying hens and I usually get 9-14 and then a couple (3 at least) of my 9 19w5d old pullets have been laying sporadically for a week (evidenced by one welsummer egg in the run and three TINY pullet eggs). So sad to only get 8 today.
I’ve had a premier electric fence for a bit over a year. Last week of so it’s not been working. Did some troubleshooting. Moved it a bit to ensure bare ground under. Checked no breaks. Tester says “change battery” replaced battery and no change. Anyone???
Yes I’m grateful to this forum for panic door integration method. Just added first new bunch of chicks to my existing 1 year old flock this spring. Dog crate in coop from week 2-3. Then panic door into crate another week or so. Then just places to hide in coop that are harder for bigs to bother...
I like my heat plate although I do think it burned a couple of them on their backs a small amount.
I brooded with it from the start. In cool garage first 2 weeks then in a dog crate in the coop. At 4w3d I removed it and they are doing great in ND spring temps.
Only 9 today from 16 who have been between 12-14 a day. But moved my 3 week olds to the coop with a heat plate in a dog crate yesterday so I imagine the disruption played a part.
