    Newb question about my layers...

Just wanted to post an update. I now have 3 hens laying. One hen that was laying outside was a hard one to break. It was like she purposely waited to get out to lay on the ground while one of the other hens automatically started using the nesting box, and nesting down even before she was laying...

    Newb question about my layers...

Yes, he doesn't seem to bother them at all from what I've watched. He just keeps an eye on them, digs holes and rolls around.

    Newb question about my layers...

He doesn't look like he is stressing them out. Look pretty content.

I figured it would take a little time for them to lay regular, but still a first timer so wasn't sure what to expect. I was kinda going by...

    Newb question about my layers...

So I've had my 6 brown layers for nearly two weeks now, which would make them almost 21 weeks old. Last week I got one small egg, but nothing since. I don't think they are stressed as they are getting quite comfortable with me now, and always hang out beside me while in the run when I'm putting...

    Hello from Atlantic Canada

Hi all! I am a first timer at raising chickens. Just got 14 broilers that I keep in a tractor coop, also I have 6 brown legged layers and a rooster in their own coop. I've lurked here for months waiting for them to come. Sadly I lost one of my chicks this morning, I tried nursing her with...
