I got a batch of chicks from my local Wilco in late March of this year. A frizzle, a Sultan and an Americauna. When I was cleaning their enclosure, I noticed a tiny egg. Thanks, Miss Lydia! I just talked to the vet and she is awake and surgery went perfectly. He said that her uterus ruptured, and she has peritonitis. He pulled a whopping 3 lbs of eggs out of her. She is going to be on antibiotics for a bit, as we see if she can beat this infection. The vet... -

As of this morning, she hasn't passed anything. Still hopeful, as she seemed fairly energetic this morning, and she fought me hard when I was giving her her antibiotics. I'm hoping that is a good sign. She is eating and drinking as well as she ever has before, and she's pooping fine, so I am... -

Took her to the vet, where they did x-rays and an ultrasound. X-ray didn't show much, except that what I thought was an egg, was actually her gizzard, pushed off to the side by a large mass in her abdomen. Vet said the mass could be eggs, or a tumor. He did a procedure where he stuck a needle... -

So, just an update - I checked her vent with a gloved finger and I do believe she IS egg bound. I put her in a warm bath last night, and lubed her up in hopes that she could pass the egg on her own. As of this morning, no luck. I have an appointment with the vet today at 2 pm. Hopefully...
