my ladies are 7 months old and have NEVER roosted indoors... it is 13 degrees outside and they still dont want to come in!!!! will they come in when they want to? or will they freeze to death outside? HELP
i have used only hardware wire cloth, 1/2", i have even burried it in my ladies secured area. 1/2" is tried and true. the only thing that may get thru is a snake.
we do have lots of snakes (and i HATE snakes) on our property. i believe it is because of the creek and woods area.

i have to say... we had 16 ISA Browns and they were the nicest birds ever. timid and great layers, they were pets and would sit on our laps and purrrrr.
we live about 35 miles southwest of chicago,,, and we have our share of hawks. when my "ladies" are free ranging the dog is always with them. she will bark at the hawks while they are soaring. thank god, we have never lost a lady to a hawk or other predator.

I have ISA Brown laying hens that are bout 22 months old, one of our ladies lays the torpedo egg as often as she can... it is a little silly looking... and it is speckled. Not a double yolker but they are always tasty.
