    PLEASE HELP - SICK HEN

I have a hen who has suddenly taken ill. She is about 18 months old and a brown hen. I had an egg from her this morning. I went out at about 3:115pm to give them some corn. I went to shut them in and she was laying on the floor. I have brought her inside, put her in a box upright with a...

Introduced a new hen - noise and pecking cause for worry?!

*update* the chicken that is being pecked is not going to roost with the other two chickens. Unsurprising, though the other two do look half asleep! Shall i just put her in and leave them to it?!

Introduced a new hen - noise and pecking cause for worry?!

Ok, i cleaned her up and sprayed her with some spray that will (supposedly) reduce further pecking and has some anti back in it. The other hen seems to be leaving her alone. One of the other two is the main bully, but the other will have the odd peck! The Bullies are speckledy hens, and the...

Introduced a new hen - noise and pecking cause for worry?!

No they didn't come from the same place! There is a little blood on the new hen and a few lost feathers. Would a peck spray help?

Introduced a new hen - noise and pecking cause for worry?!

I got two Speckeldy hens on Late Saturday afternoon. I added a brown hen today. She went in no bother, bit of pecking from the other two but they seemed to lay off after 10 mins as I sat and watched them. However the noise is awful! One hen persists on pecking the new hen whenever she walks by...

    Hen sleeping in lay box?!

Sorry, i'll just add that there was no poo in the next box this morning as i checked, but the very same hen just took herself to the same next box now that it's completely dark - i guess it it possible she moves to roost later on when temperature dips - they are going in between 3:30 and 4pm at...

    Water and food inside coop?

Sorry silly question, Two of my three hens arrived today. Unexciting for me, they already took themselves in for the night! I put the food in there since they went in at 3:30 and i closed the door as it's a bit windy and wet. However, I suddenly wondered do i need to keep food and water in there...

What will mix well with Speckldy Hens?

Ok Great! And thanks for all the welcomes! I think i have decided on two speckeldy and one red. The speckeldy will lay more eggs initially as they will be younger birds. It also means that i can go and collect them tomorrow

What will mix well with Speckldy Hens?

Built my hen house this afternoon and I fancy some Speckeldy Hens. The farm nearby however sell hens for 50, they are 18 months old and free range but they make them redundent when they dont lay an egg a day. Will the normal hens mix well with speckled? Am i better with two speckleds and one...
