Yes my ducks sleep in the coop with the chickens. During the day they all free range but the ducks mostly hang out with the chickens. Guess they will be going then unless hubby wants to build them a separate house and run. I do not want them hurting a hen.
Here are some more pics. These little rascals get into a huddle when i try to get pictures of them.
Heres the little roo.
Im going to go out later and try to get some individual pics.
My four year old son said earlier that "Those ducks are his heroes". Lol Not sure what that means but I think he loves them.
I don't really need the eggs. I have four that are laying now and quite a few about to lay. I did really want duck eggs for baking, so i might see if hubby wants to...
This is my Astralorp, she is five months old. Still waiting on eggs. The white one on the right is the Colombian Wyandotte
Above is Mrs.Fancy my cochin. She was supposed to be a he.
Thats my breed unknown roo. Someone told me he was a sexlink.
And that pullet above is the roo's sister.
These are my Buff Orps. We call them thing 1 and thing 2 because they look so much alike. One is getting longer tail feathers now and has a redder face. Hopefully still a pullet. They are 15 weeks old now so I'm thinking it cant be a he right? Pictures are a little blurry because they wouldn't...
I decided I was going to re home them. and then today they come up and nibble at my shoes. That is the first time they have ever approached me like that. How am I supposed to re home them now?
My original flock was from ideal poultry and consisted of
3 Buff Orpington pullets. (one was a roo) gave him away at a few weeks old.
1 Black Cochin pullet (she was supposed to be a roo)
Two mallard ducks. Both are drakes. They were all hatched July 7.
I then bought two black chicks from a...
They are four weeks old. I guess I will wait another month or so and see how they are looking then. I think they are mutts. None of them have the exact same coloring, and that little roo is alot more white than the rest. Also, some of them are getting a reddish feathering on the chest and some...
They both turned out to be boys. I am worried without a female they might cause some trouble, so I will be rehoming them. I think getting him a female would make him happy.
I have 2 Buff Orpingtons
1 Black cochin
2 mallard ducks
From ideal. I will post pics of them. I get compliments all the time on how bright yellow and beautiful my buffs are. (not sure if bright yellow is standard for them) My black cochin has a very crooked beak. It doesn't close well. We hand...
My mallards are three months old. One of them is for sure a male. He has almost a full green head and a white ring. He's also getting dark brown chest feathers and a white body. My other mallard kept the female colors untill a few days ago. She started to get lighter colors under the body and is...
