G'day all,
Elle here ;) I have recently picked out a lovely little shady, well weather protected spot for a small coop (Refer to the "Chichen Paradise" coop page.)
It is only big enough for 2 full sized birds, going by the 4 square feet per bird, and so decided on raising some bantam chicks...
As in chopped off :(
I mean before the roo was 'delt with' they would beat up the hens too often, and then we thought it would help if we killed one rooster (tried to give him away, but no-one would have him) but the hens still have no feathers on their backs.

Show silkies if you actually plan to show them keeping them in pens like a rabbit hutch either wire floors or deep litter shavings works well. If breeding pens - indoor or sheltered set up's do best, they don't do well in rain or snow because of the way their plumage/feathering is, it...

Desperate to show silkies! I'm a junior shower, between 14-17 and stilllive with parents. I want to build a coop especially for bantams, but mostly silkies, if I can get hold of some around here. Just wondering on some things to look out for when buying?
My coop will hopefully be exactly the...
If it gets as hot in summer as up here in North Queensland,You might want to add a solar panneled fan or if you have electricity, a normal one.
Plant some trees and shrubs a few weeks before you start, so the chooks will have some shade when your finished. or in the meantime, rig up some shade...
