    Show off your roosters

I was looking at yours and thought the same thing! They look almost EXACTLY alike. Even more alike than Henry and his brother Soldier do!

Thank you! This is actually an old photo of him. Lately he's gotten shinier feathers and deeper red coloration. Kinda disappointed that I don't have a more recent pic. lol

    Hands on hatching and help

Finally got around to posting pictures of the malpositioned chick that I assisted. I ended up having to help all 3 that hatched due to shrink-wrapping problems. Apparently buying a cheap incubator wasn't the best option... Anyways, after my broody hen had 1 of her 2 chicks die, I ended up giving...

    Hands on hatching and help

It helped some! I will try again tonight. Right now, they're still pretty weak from hatching and get cold fast. I will attach pictures later. They're pretty cute little mix-breed chicks!

    Hands on hatching and help

I didn't wipe them down! I was in such a hurry because after helping them, both were shivering. I will go try that right now. Thank you for the advice! I was starting to get worried..

    Hands on hatching and help

Alright, my malpositioned chick is out and looks great! But as all of this was happening, I didn't realize that a second chick had pipped and her membrane dried out! So I ended up basically doing a c-section on both eggs after they got stuck and "shrink-wrapped" inside. That was last night. This...

    Hands on hatching and help

Okay. I made the hole slightly wider to check that the veins had dried up but there was a little bleeding. So I stopped. I will try again in a little while. Thank you for the advice!!

    Hands on hatching and help

I'm still pretty new here so this may already have been discussed but, I need advice! It's been 13 hours since the first chick in the incubator pipped on the wrong end of the egg! But that's not the problem.Within the hour, she had started to "unzip." However, she's going to wrong way around the...

Please HELP. Pipped and unzipping in the wrong direction?

Okay, thank you so much! I'll check it out.

Please HELP. Pipped and unzipping in the wrong direction?

So it's day 20 for the eggs in the incubator. The first chick (which is also my favorite) just pipped on the wrong end. After freaking out and doing quick research on the subject, I searched for movement to be sure she was still alive in there. Luckily, she did not drown in fluids or anything...

Leaving June 26th with an Incubatror FULL of Eggs

Firstly, I apologize for the long post… This will be my second time hatching eggs but my first with an incubator, the first time I used my broody hen. I have 7 eggs in my incubator set to hatch next week. But I have a dilemma… I’m going on vacation and the eggs will be with me when they hatch...

    New to byc!

I got my first chicken, Dixie, from Tractor Supply. She was supposed to be an egg layer, but she (and her brother, Peep) were meat chickens. After Dixie reached 8 lbs or so very quickly, I did the research and knew that they probably wouldn't last long. Dixie lived to be a little over 8 months...
