    I know there is probably a high chance they wont survive, but gotta have hope, right! We are using lime powder. It works well, but we need to bathe our chooks and put down some fresh hay again to make sure they don't come back, or come back as bad.

    At about what age do bantams first go broody? We have a broody on 13 eggs (!!), which are due to hatch within the next week, but yesterday one of our youngest two started sitting on her eggs. The particular broody lays quite small eggs, so I don't think a baby would be able to hatch from them...

    I will be! Hopefully they all get to hatching stage, or at least most of them. And hopefully they hatch before I move! I'm moving at the start of October and I want to take some chicks with me, so hopefully a couple of older ones and a few of the new babies

    My broody stopped sitting because of all the mites, they got so bad, pretty much over night, we have bought some stuff though so stop them and we are changing the hay. I think we have another broody, if she's still on there when I lock them away, then she's broody! :)

    I felt bad and put the eggs back and she has been on them ever since! Hopefully she only gets off to eat and drink, so the eggs and actually hatch!

    Actually, I think they are! I always see these little bugs on her and her eggs! She got back on them, thankfully, but I would still like to know what to do if she does happen to get off again and no get back on. How do I get rid of the mites?

    My broody got off her eggs for so long today I thought she wasn't getting back on! Hopefully they're okay and she hatches them! The last two broodies we had didn't go that far, they got off after about two weeks and never got back on.
