silkie hen with lump on neck

the pink bit is part of the swelling, not some internal organ or anything like that. the swelling is attached to the scab, no opening in the skin. i originally thought you guys were referring to the shadow part under the pink bit.

silkie hen with lump on neck

it has definitely grown in the last week or so. the swelling feels hardish, not like it is fluid-filled. i’ll stop using betadine and just do saline until i can find the vetericyn or neosporin. thanks

silkie hen with lump on neck

t thanks for the response. no pus at all. this is a photo from November after the scab was taken off the first time. and the second time after the course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, 2 weeks later.

silkie hen with lump on neck

thanks for the response. i don’t think the skin is split but might be a fold because the swelling hangs over the skin but i’ll double check when i’m back from work later.

silkie hen with lump on neck

hi guys, my 6 year old silkie hen has had a lump on the side of her neck for the last 3-4 months. i took her to the vet and they treated her with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, which seemed to help while she was on them. now the lump seems to be getting bigger, she isn’t as active and not...

chicken with diarrhoea/watery poops, red flushing face and yawning

yes there are vets here. when i had to take them as chicks to the vet i didn't find it was all that useful (they had stickfast fleas) and i thought because my chicken isn't acting sick there might not be much to go with to diagnose. should i take her to the vet? there's also a place that sells...

chicken with diarrhoea/watery poops, red flushing face and yawning

she is acting quite normal but maybe just eating and drinking more than usual. still running around. if she doesn't have coccidiosis and i treat her for it could it cause her any damage? i had done some reading on the net about coccidiosis and was looking out for the red bits in the poop but...

chicken with diarrhoea/watery poops, red flushing face and yawning

i have been giving some yoghurt, just like 1-2 teaspoon each day dropped onto the grass and both chickens usually eat a bit. they seem to love it. is the goat wormer supposed to be put in a syringe/dropper and put straight into the chicken's mouth? the aristopet one was mixed with their...

chicken with diarrhoea/watery poops, red flushing face and yawning

thanks for your reply. i think her crop feels bigger than my other silkie's but that may just be because the sick one eats more. can i use milk and vinegar instead of actual buttermilk (i know in baking you can)? i may try worming her again if there's no improvement after 10 days. and i'll try...

chicken with diarrhoea/watery poops, red flushing face and yawning

hi, my first post :). i have a 17 week old silkie girl (but sex not 100% confirmed) who started having watery poops since last sunday, about 10 days ago. she is still eating and drinking normally, or lots. her face flushes red intermittently, lasting only about a minute each time. and i noticed...
