    We had eggs given to us from Tyson to hatch as a project at school. Almost half of the eggs have hatched and a teacher had some hatch overnight. When we walked in her room it smelled awful!     I started out with starter/grower until they were 16 weeks and went to crumble. I hope my previous post didnt sound like I never fed them that.

    Oh ok. I'll slack off the corn. They are 21 weeks so do I need to go back to the starter/grower? Or are you saying they may be slower to lay because of this. I only started layer pellets last week.

    I do! There are four up high in the coop. They aren't even scratching around in them. I thought they did that when they got ready to lay. They are right by where they roost so they see them.

    I started out with layer crumble but not I'm using pellets. They feee range a lot too. I give them cracked corn, yogurt, and I raise my own meal worms to feed them.

    I think I'll try that. My friend sends me all these pics of her big brown eggs and I can hardly stand it! Haha so I've been thinking there has to be something wrong with them. I jokingly say I bought some dud chickens.

    I haven't found one. They do free range over a large area but I've looked everywhere and no eggs. It's hard to be patient!!!

    I have five Red Sex Links that are about to be 21 weeks and aren't laying. My friend who bought 4 from the same store on the same day has all 4 laying. They have been laying since they were 16 weeks old. What am I doing wrong? The combs and wattles are getting big and red, they are eating layer...

    Hen??

    Is this a rooster or a hen? This is one of my two silkies. One has no comb or waddle and this one has this..... It's 18 weeks old.

    Thank you! So it's not weird that he's not crowing? I gave three others that are different breeds that are same age and crow all day long!

    Does anyone know if this is a rooster or hen? It's an auracauna supposedly and it's 16 weeks old. It's not crowing and hangs out with all the hens.
