Yippeee ! I was keeping my fingers crossed with pullets and hoping that the red was just a sign of maturity ... but I’ve been caught or so many times this year with our chicks as they are all breeds that we’ve never had.. I can’t wait for these girls to lay! Thanks guys
Our Olive eggers are approx 19 weeks - they are showing very red combs and slight wattles. I had thought these were pulleys. We have never kept OE before, are these hens just showing signs of maturity or do we possibly have late to bloom Roos? No crowing yet !! I had been looking out for...
We bought “ameraucana” and “araucana” chicks ( they are plain old EEs ) but I’ve noticed a huge difference in size between the so called Ameraucana and Araucanas. We have these really big firey yellow “ameraucana” and then these little bitty “araucana” chicks, they are the same age - what breed...

The partridge is def a Roo ... sad because I love his fluffy feet. The grey Cochin bantam I’m unsure of... these guys are currently 4 weeks old. The dark standard cochin is 3 weeks old and I’m thinking pullet ??
Last but not least, our 9.5 week old silver laced Cochin bantam... we’ve been going...
I noticed that the tail feathers had a green glint to them when the light was shining just right and I’m seeing a difference in the comb compared to the others from the same hatching - is this little Easter egger (sold as an araucana) a roo ? The second (lighter colored) chick is much larger...
I’ve been trying to work out who has been picking on my little BCM roo... today I spotted th culprit and watched a little sparring match... is this little Cochin a he ?? I had thought pullet because my other Cochin bantams were showing far more comb and wattles way earlier than this little one...
