    Mama duck and babies outside

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows how cold one week old baby ducklings can tolerate outside if they're with their mom. She's a great mom so far, but sometimes she sleeps with them tucked under or around her in the wet part of the coop near the waterers instead of the dry nesting boxes...

Yikes! I missed a lot too and I don't think anyone needs to get ugly about it. I hope that's the last of the name calling :P I REALLY REALLY appreciate all the helpful posts. Thank you so much!! I've used a combination of different people's suggestions so that I can continue to free range...

Ditto for me- Mine always comes running when I call too and she makes a lovely cooing sound when she talks. I love her!

Can you post a picture of your hen hideouts made out of hoops? Or just describe how to do it- it sounds like a great idea!! :)

Thanks again everybody! So glad I found this chicken loving community :) I've only been letting my other 3 out under supervision- they are not pleased with me about staying cooped up most of the day. I would LOVE to get a Great Pyrenees- I already checked the rescue site in our area :)...

Sorry- I posted again with your quote so everyone would know what I was talking about :P I'm pretty sure I got the netting from strombergschickens.com. It's called game farm netting and it comes in lots of sizes. I think the 25x50 ft was around $85. :)

Thanks so much everybody for your kind words and advice- you've helped me out a lot! And so sorry for all of you who've been in the same boat as me- it's just so sad and frustrating.

Ugh- that means my aviary netting probably isn't deterring the hawks at all! You would think they'd be afraid of getting trapped since you had it attached all around- but I guess if they're hungry enough they'll risk it.

Hi Everyone- I'm new to this forum and I guess I'm just looking for a little moral support today. We've had our chickens for only 4 months- 2 Americaunas, a Welsummer, and a Guinea Hen that we got later, hoping she would offer a little protection for the girls. We raised them from chicks and...
