My Goslings Have Arrived - A Metzer Farms Review

Just jumping in here as I'm also awaiting 2 goslings from Metzer set to arrive tomorrow (1 African, 1 Toulouse). This is my third shipment from Metzer so obviously I'm very happy with them. My first babies came in 2020 and my second was 2022. I also was very anxious about the tracking the first...

Hi duck parent family! I'm now a 4yr duck mom thanks to this group! Wanted to let y'all know that my Heathers flock + the Indian runners that included my first drake (Lionel) is all good and we got through all his first spring randy rape-y ick just fine. I managed through about a solid month...

    Meet Bernice and Lionel!!

New babies alert! I've added two blue Indian Runners to my Heathers flock. Bernice and Lionel are their names (I love old timey names for ducks) and about 2mo old. Lionel is def my first drake that I'm allowing in. I've got 5 ladies about 2yrs old now so I'm hoping the olds will both put him in...

I rambo-ed an enormous bald eagle attacking one of my babies

I have so much love and respect for eagles. I'm in awe when I see them. Until they try and eat one of my babies. I just see red. Zero control.

It was terrifying how close it can get to losing them!

I rambo-ed an enormous bald eagle attacking one of my babies

That makes my heart sparkle. Two days on and Bela seems almost back to normal but definitely sticking to the perimeter and still a bit more quiet than normal. I was out with them in the freezing cold rain for a few hours so they could free range. There was a big eagle circling my property this...

I rambo-ed an enormous bald eagle attacking one of my babies

I've only seen eagles in the sky - and they are far away. It was my first on the ground encounter and since I was completely out of my mind I barely registered how big he was until after. He was flying fast and I was so afraid I had lost her but he dropped her because he couldn't seem to get her...

I rambo-ed an enormous bald eagle attacking one of my babies

It came flying off the hinges in front of me which I think worked in my favor to startle him. Plus my screaming. In this pic I've circled where he pinned her and you'll see just how close to the steps of my deck he was. I was screaming and he dropped her just on the other side of that garden island.

I do cuz of deer but it doesn't really matter if you can essentially land a 747 on your 2acre field that's a septic drain field so you can't plant trees to obstruct giant raptors. Grrr.

I rambo-ed an enormous bald eagle attacking one of my babies

Oh. My. GAWD. Yesterday morning I had one of the most traumatic close calls of my whole life. I was in the kitchen - barefoot, in my pajamas and a t-shirt (no bra) and out of the corner of my eye all I saw was giant wings, a giant white head and Bela was screaming. It must have just landed on...
