    Randy the rooster!

i have a 22 week silki cockerel who has just started trying to mount on of my girls. The girl that he’s after however is not laying yet. He avoids the ones that are. Does this mean she is getting ready to lay?

    Chickens eating more food

Hi all, I have nine chickens at approximately 18 weeks. No eggs yet but the last few days their food consumption has been crazy.. Nothing has changed they are just eating like little piggys - I'm hoping its a sign that they will be laying soon. Please let me know your thoughts

    New Waterer questions

Hi, I just purchased a bucket with a nipple watering system for my birds and am curious as to whether i need to train them to use it? Or will they just figure it out? Should I take their existing waterer out once I get this one hung? Thanks for any advice!

Has anybody tried and coops from Lovupet?

I have one of their coops, my first stab at getting a coop up, and they are very flimsy and after two months already showing wear from weather. Needless to say I am now building a coop from scratch.

5.5 week old chicks in Seattle area--are our temps moderate enough to boot them outside?

I'm in Sumner and my girls are just fine outside it should be plenty warm for them to be out :)

POLL: How long before chicks learn to leave coop?

Mine just figured it out after about two weeks. They still go in and out of the coop during the day, but i have finally switched their food and water to outside. I was really nervous about that but they figured it out pretty quickly.

So my chicks are out in the coop.....

They have been in there for approximately a week, I've left the door open during the day for them to come out. they are about 8 weeks old now and seem fine and happy but just won't go outside. They are the only chickens out there, this is my first year with chickens.

So my chicks are out in the coop.....

And they won't go out of the coop at all! I didn't want to scare them out, i've been keeping food and water in there for them. Should i remove it so they go out to the yard to get food?
