We had an older hen that would do this. We figured that it was her way of showing dominance. Our 55 lb dog and our toms like to play together.

R2elk is right about the humidity. I started up a 2nd incubator and keep the majority at 30-50% and move them to the 2nd incubator for hatching and a little higher humidity. It seems to be working better. Lost a few eggs due to too high humidity.

My standard bronze are breeding well. Even breeding my BBB hen. Our BBB Tom was able to breed when he was about 6-9 mo old, but after that, he was way too big. We got standard bronze after we lost him and they are 1 year old now.

R2Elk, Wyoming is naturally dryer. I don’t know if that makes a difference. It is totally different environment here in Missouri. I used to live just east of the dunes.
