I have a 1 1/2 year old chicken that seems to never have laid an egg. I have cameras on boxes and she checks all the boxes out, even sits for a while, but never an egg. She is a 3gen ISA with BCM roos. Her mom is one of my best layers. She is very friendly and healthy otherwise.
I am thinking...
My ISA mix just started laying again 2 weeks ago. Actually she is the only one laying so far, except her daughter finally laid one yesterday. Copper Marans are checking out nest boxes, but no eggs yet this year. I have cameras on all the nest boxes.
ISA are really bad about laying all over the...
I cracked a couple of eggs from last week and both looked like that. She lays huge pinkish eggs. My first layer this year. Her daughter just laid an egg yesterday for the first time.
We had a 2 year old hen, only one left that hatched 10 eggs. She is a standard Bronze and we bred her with a blue slate turkey. She had 3 gray and 6 black babies that were 12 weeks old. She has been a wonderful mom, until last week when they took off. All 10 didn't come back. We have several...
I have seen her checking out the boxes since spring. Also she has been getting bred since April. I wasn't sure if she was a hen or roo until I caught them breeding her. Her markings are definitely a cross between the ISA and the marans. I have another one that was a cross and she lays big eggs...
I have a 1 year old that is a cross of Isa Brown and Copper Marans. The older girls pick on her a bit. She has a balanced diet of layers and high protein scratch.
I put trail cams in my coop since I had egg eaters and wanted to separate them from the girls. I noticed this one girl keeps going...
Lil Annie had a nest in the woods last year and got hit one of the first nights out there. She cane in the barn and had a nest in a box with a tarp over some stuff. She sat there nearly 3 months and kept breaking her eggs.
This year, we bread her to a friend's blue slate tom and she found a...
R2elk is right about the humidity. I started up a 2nd incubator and keep the majority at 30-50% and move them to the 2nd incubator for hatching and a little higher humidity. It seems to be working better. Lost a few eggs due to too high humidity.
My standard bronze are breeding well. Even breeding my BBB hen. Our BBB Tom was able to breed when he was about 6-9 mo old, but after that, he was way too big. We got standard bronze after we lost him and they are 1 year old now.
R2Elk, Wyoming is naturally dryer. I don’t know if that makes a difference. It is totally different environment here in Missouri. I used to live just east of the dunes.
what kind of turkeys do you have? I raised bbb 2 years ago and standard last year. Currently I have eggs from both in my incubator. They are due to hatch next week and look pretty active when candles. The only turkeys that we have hatched so far were wild turkeys that we found in October, and...
