    food/water at night?

they don't have light at night, and when i wake up sometimes its they've tipped over their water or kicked a bunch of pine shavings into their feeder and I was hoping if i could take out the food and water at night when i turn off the light then maybe it would be easier to clean

i have a heat plate at night and i use the red light lamp during the day, so its dark at night. but if i check on them in the middle of the night or something and shine some light in there they all jump for the food and start eating as much as they can...

    New Chickens!

i have thought of that but i don't want to clip their wings because if something does get in the fence, they will not be able to get away as easily. and i want them to be able to be outside so they are tougher because it can get really cold here in the winter and really hot in the summer and...

    New Chickens!

thoughts on just using chain link fence for a chicken run?

I think it should be fine. if there are little to no predators then your birds will be safe but coyotes can dig under it easily so i would put something down to stop animals from digging under. I just got my chickens a couple of months ago and have not had any problems, even with a lot of...
