food/water at night?

I have a couple chicks who i think are about 3-4 weeks old, can they go overnight without food/water?

Chickens in general should have water available 24 hours a day no matter what in my opinion.. my chickens also have 24 hour access to food. What reason is there that they need to go without overnight?

Ideally perhaps yes, but technically they will be ok without. If you're using a heat lamp, I would give food and water at night, since they don't have natural daylight/darkness and may not realize that it's not time to eat at 2 am. If it's very warm and no way to escape the heat, I would also give water at night.
If it's dark for them at night though they will be ok without it, just make sure they get it back first thing in the morning.

I wouldn't like not having water at night and I need my bowl of cereal in the middle of the night too! LOL.
So, I give fresh water and food when I lock the girls up at night.

I stop leaving food and water out overnight at around 4 weeks, but they also have a natural day/night cycle so they aren't eating/drinking at night anyhow.

How are you brooding the chicks? Are you using a lamp or heat plate?
Do they have light all night or sleep in the dark all night?

IF you are using a lamp where they can see - yes - provide food/water.

IF you are using a heat plate, heating pad, etc. and the lights are off/they are in the dark, then they don't have to have food/water - they are sleeping.

i have a heat plate at night and i use the red light lamp during the day, so its dark at night. but if i check on them in the middle of the night or something and shine some light in there they all jump for the food and start eating as much as they can...

they don't have light at night, and when i wake up sometimes its they've tipped over their water or kicked a bunch of pine shavings into their feeder and I was hoping if i could take out the food and water at night when i turn off the light then maybe it would be easier to clean

I personally think it’s just easier to have food and water available 24/7.
If they are knocking it over or getting bedding kicked into it you can raise them up on blocks. This has worked great for my chicks. If the water is getting spilled, maybe fill it more so it heavier?

Stop turning on light to check on them in the middle of the night LOL Mine will do the same if I turn a light on or make it bright enough for them to see at night - they will pile out and drink/eat. It's play time for them.

If they are in the dark, take out the feed/water.
