    @BigBirdy Where are you located? What are the roosters' temperament? My beloved rooster was recently killed by a predator, and I'm devastated and miss him terribly. I would like to have another to protect my flock. I can't guarantee protection from predators, since I live in the countryside...

    I have five barn cats and I put out fresh food and water for them every day. I don't know if it's thanks to them or just luck, but I haven't seen ANY evidence of rodents getting into my chicken feed, and I do find the occasional dead-but-not-eaten mouse in my yard. EDIT: It is a pain, though...

    ChickenShan - People talking down to you (however old you are) is the WORST. I'm 33 now, but it still happens sometimes with people of older generations (and younger generations, too ...). Sucks too that there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. Try not to put too much energy into trying...
