Thank you! Are there higher death rates with goose eggs versus duck eggs? I have zero experience but done a lot of research on them. My incuview lays them horizontal but will probably only be able to fit 14 eggs and I have 4 breeding pairs. I was considering getting the hovabator w the incuturn...
So it seems like there may be some seasoned Geese breeders on this thread. Do you have any advice? I am in my first laying season of my Geese and have 3 eggs already. What kind of Incubator do you use? Do you set them laying vertical or horizontal? I have Sebastopol's, Buff's and Africans...
My geese have started layin in literally the pass few days. I live in Florida and have buffs, Africans and Sebbies (this is their first laying season) so far only my African and one of my Sebbies have started laying.
Supply them with a kiddie pool. Water always help facilitate breeding. If you are wanting some goslings get an incubator since they aren't exactly proven breeders or good parents.
My experience with my geese, I have African, Buffs and Sebbie's. Males tend to have longer skinnier necks while the ladies of shorter stockier necks. Also, the "humps" or "rumps" on adult females hang closer to the ground than males.
I am a first time owner of geese and I have a breeding pair of Buffs, Africans, and Sebastopol that should be ready for their first breeding season. Do they need a pool or water to breed? Any advice will help!
Do you have another incubator? 11 day old eggs won't hatch very well. I have 2 incubators, one for incubating and one for hatching. I often have stacked incubation time...so I just move them over when they are ready
With my gander African (he is super sweet) he is always to me first, always checking me out and my lovely lady takes her time to say hello. It's hard for comparison unless you have another goose. Bc males are more pushy overall. My African gander is also a lil taller and bigger then my girl.
Not at this angle...sorry. What's the Goose behavior? Pushy? In your face or no issue getting very close? Or does the goose take its time coming over and gives you some space?
I typically buy Dumore poultry feed as a supplement for my goose. Geese food should always be mainly grass as they are always healthier that way. To avoid feet issue, add Naicin to the water or make peas (niacin rich food) apart of their regular diet. If you notice swollen joints, weakness or...
That's awesome he is doing better! I had some run in with Naicin issues before and it took research and time to figure it out. Now I have a bottle full of the capsules and throw a capsule into their water twice a month. I have 2 medium size kiddie pools...I only put it in 1 of the pools....since...
