Soft crop, brown liquid coming out.....

Thank you. I have tried to massage it and she doesn't resist anything I am trying with her. She is usually so bossy and aloof...that's how I know she feels badly...she lets me pet her. Poor girl. I have clean water and a small slice of seedless watermelon for her to hydrate. Unfortunately...

Soft crop, brown liquid coming out.....

My Partridge Plymouth Rock is 3 years old and my bossy girl. My husband fed them a bunch of cantaloupe the other day. Later she was in the coop just standing and staring into space while I fed everyone mealworms. She usually goes ballistic. I noticed bright green soft poo near her. I...

Hen won't put weight on leg

It does look like it's hip related. She is doing better today but it does still seem to be sore. Keeping her in the tiny cage another day to see how she does. Poor girl!

Hen won't put weight on leg

So I have 6 week old Wyandottes that are separated but in the same coop as my 3 year old mixed flock. My Shelley bird, an Americuana, apparently wants to be their mom, as she has been obsessed with getting into the enclosure since we moved the babies in this weekend. I think she tried to fly...

Does every flock have a complainer?

My silver Wyandotte loves to constantly grumble under her breath, and louder, about anything. She wasn't bad until I got rid of the rooster. Guess she had to make sure somebody was loud and grouchy, since that was roosters disposition. 14 hens and only a couple complainers.
  6. Photo bomber - my nosey silver Wyandotte. She's adorable.

Red Mites in Coop! Need Help with Applying Chemicals!

Found these little guys on the wall of my concrete floor, wooden 100 yr old coop. We have a spot where water got in and soaked the pine shavings next to the nesting boxes. I saw two of these guys on an egg in the straw lined box. Removed the wet shavings...working on cleaning out the whole...

The Happy Flock at 20 Weeks

My only solution was to eat him. I tried to re-home him but no one wants a rooster with an attitude problem. Good luck - glad you have areas to separate them.

The Happy Flock at 20 Weeks

I had two roosters....one was tasty. The remaining roo is mating with the girls but they aren't losing too many feathers over it and he is still friendly - so for now- he can stay. If he gets too aggressive, he will be chicken dinner #2. Good luck with your girls!

The Happy Flock at 20 Weeks

My girls are 23 weeks and we just got our first 4 eggs over the weekend! We have 14 hens so we anticipate many more to come! They were all perfect and cute. We are waiting until we have a few more to eat them!
