I have a male white Muscovy duck who lost his female companion. We had gotten the 2 of them at a very young age and once we realized that one was a male we knew we would have to get more females for him. We waited a while and last Thursday we got 2 female ducks slightly younger than my 2...
I am new to this thread, but I have 4 mama hens right now 1 Bantam Buff Coachin, 1 Bearded white silkie, and 2 barnyard layer hens. All 4 of them within the last 4 days have either been given incubated babies that hatched or have hatched their own babies or a mix of both LOL I would love to be...
I am hoping someone can help me identify these ducks. I got them from a shelter who did not have the ability to care for "farm" animals. When I first got them we figured they must have been pekin ducks or pekin cross ducks. My problem is that they are trying to fly and the smaller one has even...

I ended up culling him but I do have another roo that stated acting a little aggressive so I started picking him up and carrying him around with me every time he would start to show aggression. At first you could tell he was a little butt hurt, lol it was kind of funny. Now he will dance and I...
I had a mixed hatch of bantam silkies and bantam coachin chicks that hatched in the last 48hours. Of all the chicks that hatched there were 9 silkies and only 1 coachin. The coachin was the last to hatch and it wasn't long after the others however, all of the silkies seem to be attacking the...
So my local shelter had called me to take 2 ducks that were malnourished and in very poor shape earlier this month. I have always helped with chickens, rats, dogs, and cats when they need a little extra help before they could be put up for adoption. BUT never ducks.
So onto the question, I got...

Final baby count for me is 21 live babies
out of 50 kind of sucked but most of the ones that didn't hatch were the ones I got from someone else.... UGH very disappointed I wont get his hatching eggs again 3 live babies out of 30 of his eggs...
So I have 6 barnyard layers and 1 silkie born. However, 3 of my barn yard mix eggs are pipped at the wrong end, so my question, is there something I may have done, too hight of heat or low humidity, or anything that would have caused them to pip at the wrong end? or is it just a crap shoot ?
OK I went on lockdown last night around 11pm and I already have a baby born, the baby looks good but WOW that seems really fast. Should I worry because the others do not seem to be too far behind.... After only 4 hatches I have gone from "hurry and be born" to "SLOW DOWN and take your time" LOL
