I have a pair of crested ducks & a pair of buff orpington ducks. They're 5 months old, each pair is a male & a female. I had to pen them up separate from my chickens bc they were harassing my hens and younger chicks. Right now we have a love hate relationship. Anyways I've searched all over and...
Sooo my chickens have done wonderful at laying in their nest boxes......until........I had 2 hens go broody, once that happened, I have recovered over 50 eggs from various places under the hedges.....how can I convince them that they need to go back to being good girls and laying in their nice...
I have 2 buff brahma roosters and 1 buff brahma laying hen, I also have about 20 buff brahma chicks running around. I fell so in love with my old buff brahma's that I ordered 20 pullet chicks to go with the 3 older ones. My laying hen is so sweet I can pick her up and hold her, and she just...
I ordered my brahma's from McMurray, and they called me the week before they shipped them. The day they shipped I received an email saying that the chicks had been shipped. The next morning the PO called me and said the chicks were there. I ordered 25 chicks, and 1 mystery chick = 26, they're...
Thank you! I'll find some today for them. About how long does it take for ducks to start getting their feathers in? All my chicks started getting theirs within days after hatching. These ducklings are about a week old and a still little fluff balls. Just wondering. Thanks again.
Thank you! Any idea where I can purchase this? Cost? Dosage?? Is this something they need from birth through the rest of their lives or only for so many weeks, months ect??
Sorry I'm a newbie to ducks if that isn't obvious.
Well I'm glad everyone was here! Thank you! Often enough people don't say "thank you" for others helping them, even if it is just a simple passing of helpful information. This site has been my saving grace and my launching point for getting my chickens started and getting them off to a healthy...
I've just got to say thank you to everyone who has posted about pasty butts! After reading the posts and working on "being prepared" for my new chicks, tonight I noticed one of my new chicks I got yesterday, had a yucky little pasty butt! I knew right away how to fix it thanks to all your posts...
Thank you Baralak for the vote of confidence. I'm gonna give it a try and see how it goes! I'm just not so sure about this right now. Feel like I'm on shaky ground, possibly bc this is new to me, but I hope to do the best for these ducklings and they grow up to be happy and healthy!
Thank you all for your help/advice. At this time I am really considering if I am set up/capable of handling these little guys needs. I feel I'm more set up for the chicks right now. Maybe I should consider rehoming these and try again when I don't have a brood box full of chicks.
Oh my! They guy said I could feed them the medicated chick starter I'm giving my chickies. I've got them some water to play in as well as a separate waterer to make sure everyone has plenty of water. They're still in the brooder box with my chicks under a heat lamp (box is 6 ft by 4ft)
