Our leghorn rooster, Moe, fell ill about three days ago. He began staggering to one side and falling over, as if he were drunk. I would find him flipped over on his back where he couldn't get back up. I noticed that he had white hunky patches on his wattles. I have him quarantined and have...
The directions that come with the 4200 have much to be desired, so I have a couple of questions about adding water--do you add it through the red capped holes or somewhere else? Also, do you put anything down under the grate to keep it clean during/after hatch?
We thought that everything was okay but some of the goo that got on the baby chick ended up almost chemically burning off the feathers on her back. We doctored it and she made it for a couple of days but then passed away. So sad. Now I know better for future clutches
I went out to check on the hen and her clutch and heard a loud pop. One of the non-viable eggs had exploded. I now know that I should have taken it out earlier but given the current situation, what do I do? Some of the gunk got on the new chick. Should I leave it alone and let nature take it's...
Anyone had this happen? Our silkie has made a nest on the floor of the house. She is sitting on five adopted eggs from other hens. Since she began sitting, the ducks have not left her side. Any thoughts?
Some of our hens have this as well. How critical is it to try and soak it or get it off? We only feed crumble and scratch and have strong and their parents so I'm not sure if there is a way to avoid it.
Since the Barred Rocks and Easter Eggers have larger eggs, how many can she effectively hatch? Do we start counting from the day they were laid and put under her?
We were recently given this pretty little pair. They are very sweet and best buddies. She appears to be brooding now and we would like to let her try hatching a clutch of eggs. We have heard that breeding two frizzles can be a problem. What more can you tell me?
