That's how I got my Frizzle! Picked him up from the side of the road. He had been roosting on my neighbor's fence for 3 nights, along with a Cochin Roo, and a Silkie Roo. Poor things!

You might be surprised. The other eggs might just be a day or so behind... I was sure none of my eggs were going to hatch... they were 2 days late!

    Chick "graft" a success!

Thanks for posting this thread :) I have a hen brooding six eggs. I was at the farm store today & saw all the chicks... wondered if I could graft a few more onto this hen when her eggs hatch. I will wait till night time if I do it :) Wish me luck :)

    first timer, brooding questions

Well, when I went out this afternoon mama was off of the nest. One of the eggs was broken and they were all cold. She couldn't get out of the stall fast enough. I candled them all after I removed them. All but one had been developing, but none had any movement, and they were very cold. All...

    first timer, brooding questions

Thanks Becci, Yes! I was just perusing the pics. I think I will do the candling tonight, just to make sure that I have viable eggs in there. She may have been off the nest for too long the first night. I don't know. That is what worries me. But as you say, she will know what to do! Best, Ruth
