Help! Incubator was without power for 6 hours and we need to transport them again after getting power back but don’t know when to do it.

Ok so hoping this will give us some ideas on best way to do this. Short back story power went out at friends house last night and incubator got down to about 74 before I was able to get it to my house to be plugged in. ( about 6 hours with out power. I couldn’t get it sooner because of the...

When can you tell color and sex of brahmas?

I was hoping one blue at least. Lol and I figured splash for the other one when o started seeing new colors. I mixed up the photos though so here are 5-6 week old pics. Not much better I know lol but here’s fingers crossed. Lol. The one I think is blue throws me for a loop though. Because...

When can you tell color and sex of brahmas?

So we hatched out two chicks from blue partridge Brahma eggs. I’m very curious what colors/sex these may possibly be. We have never had partridge Brahma chicks so no idea what colors were looking at or when we can get an idea. Opinions? Tips?

    New to hatching.... questions?

So I attempted a hatch about 6 months ago with an incubator a friend gave me and only had one egg survive to hatch and it needed assistance. ( shrink wrapped. Somehow my humidity didn’t hold during lockdown) I’ve since bought a small incubator that only holds 12 eggs. A couple of questions...

Crossing blue partridge Brahma rooster with ??? Hens?

So we have a blue partridge Brahma rooster, and a light Brahma hen and a buff Brahma hen. I’m thinking about getting some blue partridge hatching eggs but was curious if we hatched out the eggs from our girls, any idea what they could possibly come out looking like? Color wise? Anyone have pics...

Black copper Mayans roo crossed with...??

So does anyone have any pictures of a black copper marans rooster crossed with an Ayam Cemani, barred rock or white leghorn? Our Ayam hen went broody and I’m trying to break her but if it doesn’t work I’ll just let her hatch them but I’m wondering what the possibilities could be...?

Setting up a safe broody coop?

Sorry, picture this coop but all those blue panels are a type of coroplast ( plastic cardboard...) that’s why I’m concerned about something getting in. As for the fencing part the big coop is attached to a big run that’s about 500 sq feet made of welded wire with netting across the top. So...

    Metal Shed\Coop ordered + Texas

Winter lows normally around 20-30 but that’s only a couple days here and there. Average temp is about 40s. ( but we have had years where all winter was 20-30) summer highs normally hit about 105 and on bad days as high as 110-112

Setting up a safe broody coop?

We have a small prefab that we got on accident ( don’t ask lol) and I turned it into a play structure for them however they turned it into the preferred nest box.... soooo all of them lay in there. If I let my broody stay in there I suppose the other hens may decide to use the other nest...

Setting up a safe broody coop?

I’m in East Texas area. I didn’t think about my profile lol. But I’ll fill that out soon. 😂 and yes I considered the weather and will keep trying to break her but the last time this happened with a different hen I’d be able to keep her off for a few days then right back to broody she went. She...

    Metal Shed\Coop ordered + Texas

For my own curiosity would that be ok in our weird Texas winters also? I’d love to build an open sided coop or convert part of a loafing shed into one, but I was always afraid it would be too cold if it was cold/rainy/windy.

I'm afraid my chickens will get murdered

Do you have anything under it? Or does the door to the inside part close and latch? My only concern would be something digging under and then going into the roosting spot if it’s not secured. We have a large run for our girls that doesn’t have anything under but at night we put them in a coop...

Setting up a safe broody coop?

So we had a new shed installed two months ago when our flock outgrew their coop. A week ago we had some bad windstorms and it took it down. Thankfully the chickens were free ranging and not in the coop. ( I don’t know where they took cover, but we didn’t lose any) so anyway, we’ve had to move...
