Hi - I have raised these from babies and they are now almost 19 weeks old. Obviously 2 pictures are roosters, but I'm not sure of the other 4. Can anyone tell me? The white one is from my own Red rooster and barred rock hen. I appreciate any help - the roosters have a process date in 2 weeks...
My eggs have hatched - out of 36 I have 21 chicks, and I am thrilled! 6 weren't fertile and the rest didn't make it, probably due to my trouble with stabilizing the temperature.
I gave up on candling - it was too stressful and I never felt confident with what I was seeing. Now they are in the...
Yes, I'm for leaving them in the incubator as long as they don't smell, since I don't really know what I'm doing. I remain hopeful and really appreciate all the comments. I bought my eggs locally so they weren't shipped. That should be a plus.
I've got the temp stabilised. It's Day 10. Today I dropped an egg while turning it and it dented one it fell on. I feel so bad!! Should I leave it? Will the inside membrane be tough enough to protect the chick? Should I wait and see if it starts to smell? I'm such a klutz!
I am having a lot of trouble candling. I'm just putting an egg on top of a toilet paper roll and using a flashlight, but am not seeing much. I just broke open an egg, cause I was sure they were cooked, but it was developing! so I probably lost a viable one. I am now reassured that I haven't...
How do I tell if my eggs got too hot? I've read that on Day 7 they can be accurately candled. If they are clear they are infertile. If they have veins, they are good to keep. How do I tell if they got too hot and they're dead? can this be determined by candling?
Here it is almost 2 years later! did you ever get an answer? I have just borrowed one of these incubators from a friend.
On the top there is a butterfly wing nut - loosen it by turning it to the left, tighten by turning to the right. Sticking out above that is a screw thing with a flat top...
I cannot seem to get homemade bread to work out. I seem to have two issues. One is rising. The dough rises great, then I punch it down and put it into bread pans and nothing happens. I have tried new yeast, bread flour, all purpose flour, putting hot water in the oven so the dough can rise...
