Oh wow...what a relief for you and your family! So glad for you.
You have NO idea, it was 400lbs off my shoulders...if it wasn't because of my "feathered therapists" I would be in a padded room wearing a white long sleeve shirt a long time ago! lol
All joking aside, my girls did...
Hey lovers ......
It's been awhile. Busy with holidays & no time for BYC. : So..... I have a little problem. One of my adorable, sweet, pet-able, huggable, kissable, squeezable, silkies keeps crowing. I thought I was dreaming when I heard it at 4am... but then at dinner tonight he sounded off...
email your weston a price local chapter leader for organic chicken feed options. worth a shot.
speckled sussex are a definite favorite of mine. so gorgeous. we love the one at the green marketplace in cocoa. her name is C.C. (short for crazy chicken.) I can't believe I remembered that... but...
HOLY CHICKENS!
No one warned me what evil spawn a raccoon could be. Seriously, the ground all around the cage is DESTROYED. The metal cat food can I used as bait is RIPPED TO SHREDS. This is a raccoon, I'm sure of it. Not a honey badger.
We haven't had a raccoon attack any of our chickens. Since it's practically free to trap them (one neighbor gave me a trap to borrow & another promises her boyfriend will take him to some woods far away for me) I would like to do it... just b/c raccoons don't even JUST prey on chickens. Their...
Congrats, Juan!
Pretty little pulley egg, if you ask me. Enjoy it!
In other news, uninteresting article on backyard chickens in the Florida Today today. Front page, even.
The farm it highlights, Funky Chicken Farms, may or may not have sold my neighbor some 3 or so month old...
I recently did some research after a vulture was perched up on a dead palm in my yard. Apparently if a vulture takes a live animal it's b/c it's young or sick. They usually only prey on dead things here.
I recently re-did my coop, as well. I'm very very happy with the set up. I shoveled out the old dirt, mulch & hay (which had mostly turned to dirt from all the manure) & then replaced it with new sand & then equine pine from Tractor Supply. I go in there with gardening gloves & an empty, used...
There was recently a news story about an influx of "giant mosquitos" invading b/c of all those storms a few weeks back.
Soooo... has anyone had any vulture issues? This morning I have one perched on a dead palm outside. I refuse to get rid of the dead palm, even though I've also seen a hawk up...
I'm feeling the wrath! Seriously, my neighbor's dogs just got loose. Luckily they're cocker spaniels & all the chickens are intact, but quite shaken... but uhhh... I brought her dog to her front door, intact, & she didn't even say sorry.
