Thank you all for your suggestions - as I said, we did already have the fake eggs in there.
anyhow, to cut a long story short, we were still having no luck, so on Saturday we made them a totally new nest box set out of an old bedside cabinet, the girls checked it out thoroughly, laid on the coop...
Our first egg was outside just sitting in the middle of the grass, the rest have just been randomly laid on the coop floor.
They have been checking out the nest box for over a week, climbing in and out easily, but then just sit on top of it, never actually lay in it.
These are my first ever...
My second pullets laid her first egg today!!
Any tips on how to get them to lay in the nest box tho?? So far they have just been laid on the floor of the coop...?
I have a fake egg in it so other than that...??
TIA

Yes, the egg song is only done in the front yard ...? I'm new to chickens, have no idea what is normal and what is not.
Oh boy.... I sure hope you are wrong about it looking roosterish - these are the same chickens as I put pics up of earlier and was told 3 of each, this one was...
we ate the 3 roosters, and the pullets are now 21weeks old......
when can I expect to start getting eggs??
they have been doing the eggs song for about 3 weeks but have yet to see an egg.....unless they are laying out somewhere about the yard whilst free ranging
They are 11 weeks old....is the top one a slow boy or a fast girl????
I'm seeing 3 of each ATM.....
thanks Ron, I am really hoping so... but why is she so much redder in the face?
The pullet I am hoping IS a pullet - much redder face than the other 2.
The other 2 pullets and 1 of the roosters (I think)
Sitting in the shade...
"Yes???"
