My little male call duck is sick all of a sudden. Meaning; about 2 hours ago he was happy as can be and acting completely normal. Just now though, he was laying in the shade. Andrew picked him up and put Lucky in the pool as he had just dumped and refilled it. Lucky didn't move. The water...
I have a variety of breeds all together in my backyard and then they all sleep in a 10x10 section of the garage. There are no issues. I have Golden buffs, Marans, Welsummer, RIR, Salmon Faverolles, Ameracauna, Call Ducks, Mixed bantams, and Seramas. The only thing I do it restrain my 2...
Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. Chickens lay when they lay. Changing their coop could throw them off a bit. Give them a week or two to adapt to the new coop? Letting them out a little late shouldn't hurt them or their laying. New food may affect them, but again, its just a...
Thank you all for your responses. I am going to see if I can find someone locally to evaluate. They were sold to me as Seramas. They are a hoot to watch.
I bought these hens from a backyard hobby breeder. Hind sight being 20/20, I shouldn't have. She was selling them as Serama's. If they are, they are poorly bred. I just came across some info on Nankins and am now wondering if the girls are in fact Nankins? Is there any decisive way to find...

I have never hatched eggs before...
It all started with 3, supposedly Golden Buff hatchery chicks from the local nursery.
Then I added 2 Black Copper Marans from a farm in the area.
Then we discovered one of our Golden Buffs was actually a Cornish Cross Meat Hen.
So we had to get a Welsummer to replace the Cornish, because...

I just recently got into raising chickens. We obtained 5 chicks in the end of May ; 2 sex links, 1 cornish cross "oops" chick, and 2 copper marans. They live in a small coup in my back yard and have a large 20x25 free range area. some of my chickes were hatchery chicks, they were supposed to...
