Thank you all. With consideration, I have decided to keep Hattie on her own at home, giving her special attention and care.

After 18 years of joyfully raising poultry, I am simplifying for retirement and am now down to my sole aged hen. What is the right thing to do - I cannot rehome her -she is being treated for scaly leg mite and have concerns if the stress of rehoming would be detrimental? I am in the coop daily...
Kathy, I have seen no more worms pass post ivermectin. She is not pooping and in fact is very interested in eating any poops in the cag. She is eating amash yogurt corn slurry and drinking a bit. Still perched on the cage floor, eyes bright but close soon after a minute or two. She can hold...
Ok. She can for short periods. With stimulation she has no problem. When resting her head drops. There is some tail twitching as if trying to poop but no poop.
Great banamine chart!
I have seen only one roundworm pass so far. Dk olive green cast to droppings and a few have texture as if she ate hay. She is pooping.
I know how to give SQ and IM injections. I would love to know how to give fluids SQ. I have hand fed swallows with an eye dropper but...
PS re banamine: Too much will kill poultry. I used about 1/4 of .1cc. That's a tiny amount and I saw it helped her comfort very quickly. She began drinking and eating soon after for at least a little while
I used 3 drops of : Ivermectin pour on for cattle 5 mg/ ml.
I placed it on her neck skin.
Again I worry about the volume to pass all at once if she is impacted. Thank you very much for your help here.
Safeguard paste for horses? When should I use it now that she has ivermectin topically?
I am worried about a big worm load trying to pass thru her gut. The ban amine relaxes smooth muscles so things can move plus kills pain.
Chicken in my kitchen - nice and warm
Symptoms:
Very Pale comb, hunched up and fluffed up; eyes closing, passed visible roundworm in poop
Eating & drinking a little - yogurt, corn, mash
I gave her penicillin & pour on ivermectin.
I gave her a minute amount of banamine.
That got her to drink, eat & perk up a bit.
Caught her...
I isolated this hen due to worms and she is eating her own poop. She was debeaked, sadly.
Obviously she tries to eat everything since its so hard for her to peck at food. Any ideas?
