If ya dont want them the best option would be to try to sell them to someone.
As they have been raised with you, and have been brought from a hatchery, there is a chance that they will fly away but it would be more likly that they will hang around your property.
My guess would be age.
She may have been fine, but when she hatched her chickens they might have been enough just to finish her off. Sorry for your loss.
On another note i wouldn't try to put the chickens in with another hen, high risk of the hen killing them, unless you have another hen that...
I guess it is possible. Its a old method that my brothers always used and i have used to raise all chickens i have ever raised with no issues. Am hoping to get a heat mat at some stage though.
Average day probably 17 Celsius, night 9.... really hard to say. One day will be 20, that night it...
Yer..... live in a place where it gets all seasons in a day a few times over.......
:confused::he:barnie;):lol::lau
You said 'i sure wouldnt turn it on' are you referring to the lights in the brooder that they are currently in?
Thanks for your help
From what i have been reading, they have to be around 8 weeks to be out from the brooder with no heat. Is this right? That is similar to chickens, accept chickens at that age are about the same size as the ducks are and the ducks are out growing the brooder rather fast!! MT
Another thing...... this shows how little i know about ducks, learning more the longer i have them.
But does everyone's ducks grow at a completely mental and unbelievable amount? Like they are 3 weeks old and they about the same as a 9 week old chicken......... they are huge!!!!!!!!
Is this...
Picking them up is a different story. They still seem to think i am some kind of murderer...... anyhow. I dont really mind if they dont like me picking them up, just so long as they forgive me. ;)
Thanks for the advice

Happily will also eat outta my hand, when the treats run out which take all of a blink of the eye they will just sit at the doorway and let me stroke they whilst they try to eat my hand, which is rather funny.
Ducks are hilarious and darn cute little things...
My coop is very open and same, it barely smells, and have had it like that for 5 years without cleaning out the bedding.
Do get flys, live in Australia sooo.... cant do a lot about that.....
