Just remember that her "adult" coloring isn't in until her 1yr molt..... so she may be more blue or more wheaten than she is now..... I'd breed them though, I LOVE BLUES!! I have a Blue Pit Bull to add to all my blue chickies!! LOL
I bred a Blue Ameraucana with a Splash Blue Copper Maran...
It is said that a layer should eat a 16% & breeders a 20% protein ration..... I did the math with the Pearson's or Dairyman's square, but then made not of fat content..... alot of people let the layer ration be available 24/7 & feed the scratch in small supplemental meals: A) for the nutrition...
The best way to know how the gals are is by their egg laying. So easy to know who is not feeling 100%, even if it's just bc they are starting molt... and to know who lays what is the absolute best!
I am so OCD.... I know who lays what. Since I have a limited flock #, I have one of each breed (except Ameraucanas & EEs).... I put up a camera in the hen house pointing @ the nest to see who laid what. Sat in the living room & waited until one left & went to collect it up!! Then if a gal is not...
Is that the graphic you were thinking of? IDK where I saved it from, but it was IN my Olive Eggers' folder! LOL..... & I think I'm gonna breed him to my Blue Copper Maran (his Aunt) & go for 2nd Generation pullets. That'll also encourage the blue with copper/wheaten throughout..... since I have...
I have a huge folder of links too, but now know most!! I compulsively right-click things of interest!! LOL I think there's more chicken stuff on this laptop (and my phone) than everything else combined!!!
THANK YOU!! I dont remember where I found it, other than I had googled "egg" & "chicken" clip art & saved a lot of them into an "odds & ends" folder.... I use it on my labels, FB & now here!
I also do not remember where I found that OE vs EE graphic either, forgot I had..... Guess I didn't...
I haven't dealt with a true "barren" hen, but I do know that obese hens wont lay.
Think of the size comparison: The extra weight on her is like ten fold compared to a human. Obese women no longer "cycle" bc fat cells secrete hormones. Those mix up their natural balance, stopping their...
Oh I am dreading the wait... these home bred ones I have until Dec for them to lay, I have a freebie who should be anytime but her's will be light as she is a Barred Rock x Ameraucana.....
So, do I have this right: Oliver x EE = EE(darker than mom's) or OE(lighter than Aunts')
BUUUUUUT, if...
I didn't mean to come off as curt, I've been told I tend to sound as such when typing, I LOVE the excitement other flock owners have!! As my friends cannot "get" why I talk to my gals!!!! LOL
I'm just really flustered bc the last accidental Roo I had, their father, within 2mo of him "finding"...
