One of my chicks just hatched. It was really cool to watch, but something is still stuck to his rump and he's dragging the egg around! What could this be? Will it fall off? I'm a first time hatcher.
Most of my peeps have pipped, but only a little. One has made a big hole for breathing, the other has made a slit in the membrane and has his beak sticking out of it a little. Hopefully that little guy will make it, its been at least 12 hours since he pipped. I've already had one die, but I...
I did that earlier, but I guess I was hoping it would come back to life or something.
This is my first time hatching eggs, so I'm still a little bit confused as to what to expect.
Thanks for the quick reply. I know the poor thing is dead, it stopped moving and chirping hours ago. I even peeled back a bit of the membrane and it was turned the wrong way. Do you know the best way to dispose of the egg? Just throw it in the trash, right?
I have a chick that suffocated in the egg earlier today. The rest of the babies aren't hatched, but a few of them have pipped. When do I remove the egg that has a dead, but pipped chick in it?
Thanks
I'm just hoping he's got enough strength to break out of a tough shell. He's pipped externally, and I see his little beak pop out every once in a while. Hopefully I'll have some chicks tomorrow after I get home. If not, I'll feel bad, but everything's a learning experience.
I've opened the lid a few times, one to fix the fan and another to help the now dead chick. The little guy pipped between 2 and 5 today, and the membrane looks really white to me. I don't know what breed he is, or if this is normal, and I don't hear him peeping anymore.
This is my first time hatching babies. One of my chicks has died after either suffocating or drowning before being able to fully zip. I think my humidity was low. I have another baby that is wanting to hatch, pictured, and I want to know when and how to help him. He pipped before I got home, and...
