Honestly I don’t know 🤣 but I would think if you’re in the 70s range that’s probably good. But like I said I don’t know for sure. You could do some googling or maybe ask in a new thread cause no one else seems to be chiming in here.
Yes it’s ok that they see each other, good even. It helps them get used to each other with a barrier so no one gets hurt.
Whenever I have babies I have a little fence I can keep them in while my adults free range. Everyone can get to know each other without any brawls.
Sorry for the delayed reply! So what you could do if you don’t have a great heat source is have them out in the coop during the day and bring them in at night.
You could also block the coop in half, set it up like you would for the babies and put a thermometer in there and check temps before...
The struggle is real!!!! Once you get ducks it’s like an obsession 🤣 Lets see these new babies!
Where do you live again and what are your temps like? I’ve only done outdoor brooding in summer but depending on your set up it could still work going into fall.
So the only brand for in home use that I know of is harvest right and that’s what I have. I got mine at tractor supply but I’ve seen them at ace and Costco! You can also buy online right from harvest right.
And yes you can really use it for ALMOST everything. There’s some exceptions like...
Yes, you can freeze dry chicken eggs too!
It’s really easy, just takes a lot of time in the freeze dryer. I usually do about 6 dozen duck eggs at a time, you should be able to do a lot more chicken eggs cause they’re usually smaller. But I crack alllllllll 72, whisk them up and freeze dry them...
Ducks have been molting for the last couple weeks. As luck would have it, before I realized they were molting, I freeze dried almost all the eggs I had, keeping only half a dozen (cause I wasn’t expecting the molt yet) & hubby cooked up some breakfast burritos with the 6. So we’re totally out of...
Love the pool area! I think it all looks really great. And if the grass/dirt doesn’t work out or you end up not liking it you can always add the rock you wanted to.
Has is been working out better having them in there instead of the tote?
Just dirt, works great when it’s dry. Just rake it out when needed.
But….. when it’s wet it can be a muddy mess. Definitely not my first choice but obviously not bad enough for me to change it.
We redid our coop and run this year, I’m hoping with a different roof and pitch it will be better...
The curled feather means male.
Also their quack is different, male vs female. So the other one either hasn’t got its drake feather yet or it’s quack yet. How old are they?
