Hmm, not sure that's possible. They live in a closed coop with its own house. I think the only way to keep them apart would be to build a second coop and house. Might have to give these a miss and wait for more mature ducks to be available.
I've been looking for another female Aylesbury or two to go with our female and drake as I'm worried the female is getting pestered by the drake, but so far I haven't been able to find any Aylesburys.
My question is, would it be effective if I put different breeds together, or would the...
Ah thanks for putting my mind at ease. I went back out and I did find the shell, although it was more like a half shell and very soft so I think you are right on the money with incomplete egg.
I've just been to give the ducks an afternoon treat and noticed an egg, minus it's shell, on the ground in the coop. This has worried me and confused me somewhat.
I'm not sure where this egg came from as we had collected the daily two this morning and I'd emptied the house and laid fresh...
How will our 3 Aylesbury ducks cope with the sound of fireworks? We always have a display in the garden but this is our first year with ducks. My original plan was to bring them inside in a large dog cage but I'm wondering if being out of the coop/house will be more traumatic for them. Help!
Sure enough I've just seen one of the ducks in the drinking water. She did look like she was struggling to get out so I helped her out. As soon as I was out of the coop she was back in :barnie although this time she did get out by herself.
As a temporary measure I've used a small paving flag to...
My concern with that is that they could **** in it like they always did with the drinker in their brooder, though I can't really gauge the scale with that pic so not sure if they could get their arses in it  Maybe I can find something to modify mine to ensure they cannot get in :caf
Just wondering what people's opinions are of this sunken bucket waterer. I'm very new to raising ducks and just learning as I go so I wouldn't know if there were any inherent problems or risks with this design, so let me know!
The idea was to give them something stable that they can stick their...
This is the one I was looking at, £63. I'm definitely going to look at mounting it on a pallet first though as that would be a cheaper long term solution. Need to check if the incline up to the pool would be too steep though.
This photo gives an idea of the space constraints, but you know what, I think if I move the pool right up into the corner I may be able to ramp up on the other side(s) without blocking the door or losing too much space. Now, the logistics of working the swamp is another matter! I'm definitely...
