Great, thank you! We applied neosporin. Since she is young and seems in good spirits, how long would something like this take to heal?
Here is a picture pre-neosporin to show depth of wound.
I think we're in a good spot now, especially after reading through similar threads, but wanted some additional thoughts.
Came home this afternoon to find one of our chicks, approx 8-9 weeks old, has a huge wound on the back of her head. Not sure how it happened, but we seperated her immediately...
They had been staying in the coop no problem. It's a total on 11 in an 8x10 coop. And the 8 young ones have been doing very well with the 3 older girls.
They were all in the coop tonight like normal. So who knows 🤷♀️
I'm not sure this is even the right place for this question, but the behavior of my new chickens today has baffled me!
We got our first Summer thunderstorm with flash floods today. When I went to close them in for the night, all of the new chickens, about 3 months old, were outside soaked to...
Thank you! We really like them! We integrated them successfully with my original girls who are now 4 years old. They are also starting to understand we have treats and come when we shake the jar. Makes wrangling them a lot easier 🤣
Hi all! I've also been busy and think this is such a nice way to get members to engage! 😀
We just got a new batch of chicks! We got a mixed bunch of Golden Comets, ISA Browns and RIRs. Not the greatest pictures, but they are some cute birds!
We also expanded our garden and harvested the...
Droppings are a normal color, no yellow.
This morning her crop was still full, but really didn't show interest in food like she had been, even after offering treats.
We are going to see how today goes, but thinking we might need to put her down.
Thanks again for the help.
She has normal 16% pellets, just like the others. Scratch every few dew days, access to oyster shell. We also have been giving them broccoli lately since we had extra.
Edit: forgot to mention right now she's more interested in the scratch and meal worms and not eating the pellets. Also been...
Hello, I'm hoping to get some help for my 4 year old orpington hen. I'm going to just share as much as I can because I've read so many things and have no idea what could be wrong with her.
Over the past few days, I've noticed her unable to support her weight to even stand. It started with...
Hi! My roosters favorite hen is now a little bare on the back. I ordered some saddles for her, but they won't get here til Saturday.
Is there anything I can put on her for now until they arrive to reduce anymore injury? Like an easy DIY. Or should I try to seperate them?
Your recommendations...
Thanks for the picture! They looked like the cecal worms and they did appear to be in the ceca. They weren't as big as roundworms. They also weren't moving around, not sure if that helps.
Thank you this is very helpful! After seeing this diagram, I believe what I saw was cecal worms. I checked again this morning and didn't see anything. I've been putting garlic in their water, is that something that can help or is that just a myth?
Should I keep watch on things before treatment...
