    Usually 18-19. I shut down on 22. I always crack open every egg because the idea of burying someone alive kills me. Haven't found one alive yet.

    Ok I will do that as soon as I get home. By wet food do you mean the fermented feed? Usually the girls eat that over the dry pellets.

    Getting quails to eat fruits and veggies + lonely quail

    The only vegetables I can get my quail to eat are alfalfa sprouts. I usually buy them, but I just bought a sprouting kit. My daughter picks wood sorrel flowers for her pet quail and she eats them right up. So you may have resources in your own backyard.

    How many do you plan on keeping? This seems really expensive. We built a coop for way less and I keep 30 hens. Could it be a possibility that you are over-estimating the cost, because this seems like you would have enough.

    Right off the seed?! You know, I bet that would work! It is fairly straight. I grew the green kind. Elene's Green or something like that. When I was pulling the seeds, I demonstrated twisting by hand to my husband. Don't know why I didn't connect that mentally. I'm going to give it a go!

    How was your experience? I'll try to look that one up. I've never spun anything before, and when I was researching spinning cotton specifically I kept running across the Navajo.
