I've been considering getting a meat press and meat slicer to make our own deli style meats.
I wondered if grinding an older bird and cooking this way in a meat press would make tender chicken to slice for lunch meat? I know older birds can be tough, and maybe grinding and cooking like this...
9 weeks and I'm thinking maybe I do have a pair. One has a very obvious comb and wattles as well as streamers in his crown feathering. The other has none of those. Hopeful it's a little girl 😊
Definitely ended up with Dominiques and of the 5, two are pullets!
They are for sure Dominique and we ended up with 2 of the 5 being pullets. Bought as straight run so I'll take it!
Very pretty birds! Silkies are the best. We only had one evil roo and he definitely had something else in him. He was a big boy and mean! All our other silkies have been sweet and the best for the kids.
Hopefully so. The silkies were bought as pets for the kids. These 2 are for my daughters and the itty bitty one my son chose. All the chicks have outgrown it, currently it is housed with the chicks a week younger and they are bigger than it now. It has been the ugliest silkie we have ever owned...
I was hoping the one on the right might end up a pullet. The comb is more black than anything and smaller than the other. Guess I'll wait for the crow or egg lol
Bought these about 4weeks back from tsc. I'm thinking a cockerel and pullet unless the one on the right is a really slow developer! Thoughts and opinions?
I didn't think about the headspot. 🤦♀️ when buying at tsc it's always a crapshoot what you'll end up with! 🤪
But at least I'll have birds ready by spring if all goes well and we will be ready for eggs!
The new little black and yellow? Some I have wondered if Jersey giant or australorp or will they end up Dominique or barred rock. It's so hard to know since they were definitely labeled incorrectly. Some chicks are easier for me to identify but black and yellow chicks all look so similar to me!
