I am thinking about getting more chickens - no younger than pullets. Do I need to do anything to introduce them to my current group? I only have 3, all buff orpingtons and all hens. I would like to actually get the same breed.
I got my first egg on Sunday. I got the chickens from a local breeder. I got it from the hen with the comb. The other two are the same size but one is combless and the other one has a small one.
I should probably take a look around. they are not out of their coop that many days as we don't let them out if we're not home. that might also be affecting it.
I have three Buff Orpington hens - they are about 24 weeks old (I bought them around Mothers Day when they were 8 weeks). but no eggs yet. I thought I read that hens start laying by now. Thanks
I am pretty sure this has been asked before but how old are hens when they start laying normally? Just curious to when we should start expecting eggs. We have Buff Orpingtons.
I ended up putting more in. If I didn't I would have to clean it more often. I am going to try put a small shovel in there or by there or convenient for me to grab so I can do some spot cleaning when I do their food and water.
Hi
I'm back. Used to post here a couple of years ago. When we lost our flock, I stopped coming by. We just now decided to get new chickens So now I've got 5 buff orpingtons that I think are wonderful. They like to perch on me. which is nice sometimes but not when I'm doing their food...
We got chickens again (we lost our last flock or whatever a group of chickens is called). I cleaned out the old shavings and put new shavings in there. but not sure if I need to put more bedding down. right now, except when I put them in our dog yard (sans the dogs of course), they stay in...

actually, I was just being overdramatic. How you feed your baby is your choice. Who am I to say what is right/wrong. What I find offensive is that I would be asked to feed my baby in private but the bottle feeding mom does not have to. You don't need to whip out the boob to feed the...

For effect? Absolutely!
Cause: Baby hungry; baby cries
Effect: Baby gets feds; baby stops being hungry and crying
I am discreet and incredibly modest, but I would breastfeed where ever and whenever my child(ren) needed to eat, but I very rarely fed them in the bathroom. I...
So I guess I need to get DH to put some type of mesh material up under the roof (the triangle part between the roof and the walls - don't know what its called). cause one of my darn roosters keeps getting out and that is the only open part (when the door is closed).
