We moved from CT, where we had chain link coop (chicken wire top), to FL where we have chicken wire panels all the way around. We have had everything from raccoons, skunks, and possums get in small openings, or pushing under, and killing birds.
But for the first time ever, something tore...
Just ideas: Is the food frozen? Is it loose and free flowing?
Do you have metal feeders? Perhaps their combs and wattles have gotten stuck (if wet), or burned from the cold.
I bought mine used (with egg turner) off craigslist.
Do a search and keep a close eye.
I'd check neighboring communities as well. I bought mine for under $100 and it works great.
Or do you have Facebook swap n sell page for your town. You can also put up an ISO ad.
Wow, what a shame to silence the roosters. I love the crowing.
We are soon moving from our 31 acres in CT to 6 acres in FL. I sure hope we have no complaints! But if so, I will keep this method in mind. I love my roosters and would hate to give them up.
Why don't you call sheriff and report it. Dog owner owes you a lot of money. (Probably not enough, though, in my opinion). You were well within your right to destroy the killers of your livestock.
