Ohhhhhh.
My bad. I've never seen those before. Never even HEARD or them, actually.
Well, I guess you learn something new everyday! ;P
Are they basically the same thing as Golden Comets/Red Sexlinks?
Do you mean RED SEXLINK or GOLDEN COMET????
Anywho---- I LOVE this breed! Laying machines, they are, mmmmhmmmm (as Grandpa V. would say).
Sooo many different names, though! Just depends on who you talk to, I guess....;
Golden Comet (shortened "Comets")
Red Sex Links
Production Reds
Red...
Ok.
Weeellll, I'm pretty sure that a licensed veterinarian USUALLY knows what she's talking about...
I will just chose not to worry, at this point. Whatever you want to do, well, that's what you want to do.
Though I am still concerned, i'm just gonna take that risk and see what happens...
I've talked to my Cooperative Extension and 4-H, and they don't seem too concerned... For all anyone knows, your current flocks could be infected w/ some strain and you don't even know it. And, apparently, if it was really proven and a huge issue, they would not be permitted to sell chicks.
I...
Good luck! I didn't even think of the pellet gun, but I actually think that that's the best idea for you.... Just kinda keeping yourself at a distance.... ya know?
UPDATE;
Ok, I have fed her 2 egg yolks mixed with a bit of Coca-Cola (don't ask- saw it on Yahoo! LOL.), and some Duramycin.
She did not accept it readily, so I had to gently pry open her beak. I think I got a little more than half a teaspoon in her. She's still poopin, so I assume she has...
Ok. Thank you so much for not judging me.
I am not allowed to tell you about my situation (mods will kill me (but it's nothing bad)), but there is no way for me to get to a rehab center. That would be my first choice also.
Wow. I guess that's one way to do it. (i'm totally NOT judging you, btw)
I will remember that, but closing a little animal in a container seems like it would be more traumatizing (for me) than just killing it as you would a bird to be eaten... Just my opinion.
Do you really think that it's less...
So, I know that some of you people will probably say "HEY! YOU POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG SECTION!" But this IS an emergency, and I don't think that I will get as many answers if I post it somewhere else.
ALSO- please don't judge me. I have encountered a lot of this on here, and after today, I...
So, i'm sure most of you know about the whole salmonella thing @ mt healthy hatchery.
I have chicks due to come in on may 29th from there.
I am planning to bring these birds to the fair next year. to exhibit, they have to be pullorum tested. Let's say that these chicks have a salmonella...
so I just ordered a batch of layers a few weeks ago from mt healthy hatchery via my local agway. they should come in on the 29th.
soooo now they are saying that over 60 cases of salmonella have been reported, all of which (they believe) to be traced back to mt healthy...
What should I do...
