1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)

Buff Orphington, aprox 1-2 years old

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

I got home tonight and she was just laying on the ground, with her legs out stiff behind her. She seems otherwise ok, and will eat and drink if I put them in front of her where she can reach.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
I don't know, she was fine last night, and today I was busy inside, and didn't get out to see the girls until just now. Husband says he noticed her down when he went out there about an hour ago.

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
Nope, other girls are all acting totally normal.

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
Nothing I can see.

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
The water in the coop was empty, but it was full last night, maybe she got dehydrated?

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Drinking water and eating layer feed and kitchen scraps, mealworms, etc.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Not sure.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Scooped her up and and brought her to the water to see if she would drink. Been encouraging her to drink.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
If I can treat this at home, I'd prefer to. I would see a vet if it was serious. I have no idea what this is, I'm new to chickens.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Currently in the temp. coop which is a chain link dog run with a room and shelter, with wood shavings for bedding.

I hope these help...I don't know what is wrong with your hen but sometimes it can help to see links like these.

Also look up mareks.

So if it were me I would try vitamins to see if that helped. They sell poultry vitamins or some use the poly vi sol without iron as a short-term treatment.

lameness mentioned

So as you can see there are many things that can send a bird off her feet and it can be very hard to tell except by necropsy. So take a look and see if anything matches.

Nothing seems to match exactly. She seems totally fine, except her legs are sticking out behind her all stiff and warm, and she isn't standing up. But if I guide her to the water she will drink, and if I put the food under her, she will eat. She also squawks and flaps her wings when I pick her up, which is totally normal for her. (I got them all as pullets about a year old, and it has only been a month, so they are all a bit wary of me yet. I'm just a total noob to chickens, and I have checked the couple of books I have, but they don't have anything for a chicken who seems perfectly ok except her legs not working.
