Hi there,
I just wanted to pop in and thank all of you for the great advice and give you an update. It appears we are out of the woods. I glued my Cochin back together and once that was done she ran off like she was as good as new. It was a little weird. Maybe the open wound was irritating...
That's so funny that your cat sleeps in there; makes sense I guess. It's dark and probably warm. My cat is in the coop all the time but he doesn't sleep in there. He really seems to enjoy the chickens.
On an aside, we also had a Parrotlet that must have escaped from a nearby home. He...
Thanks Terri O. I'll see if I can't find some of that. I'm still new to this chicken business and they just started laying like three weeks ago after a very looooooong wait (as I'm sure you know all too well). The thought of my girls not making it and havign to start over really sucks. It's...
Thank you all so much for the kind and quick advice. I'm sorry to hear of the other poster whose dog got in the coop. I'm very sorry to hear that. I always hoped I could trust the dogs but it's just a bad combo.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I never knew having chickens could be so much fun. Their personalities are a crack up. W did loose a couple of silkies to one of the dogs but we keep her under pretty close eye now so no more problems to date. Very sad.
Ranchhand asked what our user name...
Awesome!! Thanks for the info. Can you tell me if we can start eating them right out of the shoot so to speak or should we give them a few practice eggs before we eat them? I was thinking we might give them the shells for these first few and then start eating them.
All,
Today my eight year old daughter found our first eggs!!! Very excited!!! I think they were laid by the Silkies. They are small and the lightest of brown color with some white
speckles. There were four of them. We live in Orange County California and are totally stoked Dude!!! I do have a...
