Hi, has anyone here from Mississippi or the Deep South ordered from a chick hatchery before? I have, and am expecting the little bundles of joy at the end of the month. I ordered from Cackle hatchery and I'm wondering how long did it take the post office to get your chicks safely to you...
Could be an Easter Egger. I'm no expert, but a lot of them have greenish/slate legs like yours. Take a close up pick of its comb area and someone on here could probably say for sure.
It's scheduled to arrive at the end of May. It feels like forever before we get them! However, before I chose Cackle, I saw that most of the hatcheries had wait times as long as July and August. So, I guess it could be worse.
But it's so hard to wait! They aren't even EGGS YET!
If you have a way to make a fire (even a BBQ pit) or fireplace put a brick in it, heat it up, carefully remove the brick and wrap it up with a towel and place it in the incubator for heat. Repeat as often as you have to. I hope everything turns out right!

On most hatchery...
So my only hope for a pullet is the Polish! I was so hoping for some silkie babies one day.
I don't think the first silkie is a mix. The woman I bought them from only had silkie chickens. This one just doesn't have dark black skin. I don't mind really. The silkies were just going to be...
I don't know personally if this will work, but I read that you get a small container of honey, open it up and leave somewhere outside near your problem area. The ants supposedly will go after the honey all summer long and leave your plants (and hopefully chickens) alone. But I would still be...
I have some idea what gender they are, but would like some expert opinions.
Silkie 1- Is 12 or 13 weeks old. He carries himself in a roosterish way. And he's much bigger than the other silkie. Boy?
Silkie 2- 12 or 13 weeks old. Acts like a pullet, but I am unsure...
