This year I've had three Silkies, two Buff Orpingtons, one Rhodebar, one Delaware, one Barnevelder, one Rhode Island White, one Phoenix, and an EASTER EGGER go broody.
I'm with ya.
Does anyone sell free-range, pasture-fed turkeys? What do you charge?
We raised them last year for ourselves and have had a few friends ask. We want to ensure we cover our costs, not necessarily make a hefty profit.
[I'm not in a heavily saturated market up here in the far northeast]
Hey guys.
I don't usually post, because I had a rough start of it and chose to learn the hard way. Now I just lurk.
BUT I need your wealth of knowledge. I try to leave my broodies in the big pen so that I don't have any re-integration issues. My nesting boxes are about 3' off the ground (4'...
Yes, sorry. It's busy season for me (I work for a cyber school & it's state testing time, blech).
All of the re-ship ones survived and everyone is thriving. I took pictures of them, but then I threw my phone into a moat on an amusement park ride accidentally.
...yeah...it's been that kinda...
Sorry I haven't updated. We lost half of our original order two weeks ago. They must've gotten cold on shipment. It was terrible.
I called Cackle. They shipped me out half of a surprise and replacement chicks for the ones that I specifically ordered.
These chicks arrived Friday. Not a single...
Here's what we got :)
Don't forget I ordered 4 Black Laced Gold Wyandotte, 2 Black Laced Red Wyandotte, 5 Black Laced Silver Wyandotte, 4 Black Jersey Giant, 4 Salmon Faverolle, 2 Speckled Sussex, 6 Easter Egger, & 5 Cochin (not pictured)...
I called the post office to double check on tracking (it's showing 3 day, but is supposed to be 2 day due to zones and wanted to make sure it was going to arrive tomorrow since it's so cold). It SHOULD be here tomorrow morning, but I'm going to keep tabs on it.
I also asked for the weight...
I have a question.
I have two Rhodebars. They're fantastic. I've had them since February (they were a few days old).
This isn't the best picture, but they're both broody (together) right now and not feeling very photogenic.
Could someone let me know if that comb is "normal"? I'm not breeding...
I received at the end of March. Got 2 turkeys & 3 ducks. I did write for those in my requests, though.
We also got a HUGE variety and few roosters. We will be ordering again in the spring. :)
I had a hen standing in a nesting box tonight...
I'm going back to double check on her. I've NEVER not had everyone roosting. Makes me nervous. Could he be broody? Maybe laying this late?!
You might be trying to put them in too early. I just shut my doors now. If I try earlier than, MAYBE 7:45 I have to chase them (& they're not chicks mostly).
Here's the crazy color-changing comb on Big Red:
That's the "black" that shows up.
This is normal him (he was attacked by something and lost some of his neck feathers (we're assuming since he showed up one day like that).
So whatta ya think? Weird right?
