    7yo Hen with Spur Injury?

Hi. We noticed our 7yo rhode island red wouldn't get off her perch this morning and after helping her down see that she's limping. I had not seen this before, but she has spurs! One spur looks healthy like I see in pics, but it is long. Needs trimmed. But the other spur is shorter and it's...

11 New Birds to Meet Remaining 2 5yo Hens

Thank you very much! YES! I was thinking I will close the big service door and be sure my older girls can get in and get settled first. Then I will let the littles in....great idea to set an alarm for early to intercept the waking of the 13 little monsters!! I will let you know how it goes!!

I posted another thread, but wanted to reply here too! Situation now that we are closer to actual move has changed. We will be staying with family 1-2 weeks so the Girls need a less temporary shelter etc. Problem is, it doesn't make sense to have our permanent coop delivered and built at my...

Still need temp coop/run solution for 1-2 week transition

Hi! We're moving to Missouri and our 8 hens will need a safe place to live for 1-2 weeks while we stay with family before closing on our new place. I'm trying to avoid having to set up what would/should be a permanent coop/run at my Mom's just to have to tear it down 1-2 weeks later and move it...

    Moving/Temporary Shelter & Run Ideas

Hi! We're moving 800 miles to a more rural area with more predators and taking our 8 beloved Girls with us. Can't gain access to the new property before closing so will be arriving with trucks, kids, dog, and birds all at once. We're doing a shed for the coop this time so that will be delivered...

Hi! This is my first post, so thanks in advance! Husband is bringing home the chain link dog run we're using for our girls' coop protection and run area today. Super excited! Need help: The place we need to place the coop/run has recycled asphalt already in place. Neighbor says it will get hot...
