Well here is my first shot at a coop for our 8 birds. There have been a few improvements since I took the pictures which are mainly addition of an ADOR1 automatic door. Also on the outside on the entire run is 6" of mesh on the ground with crushed stone over it to prevent digging. Let me know...
See and I have been thinking the fluffy one is the cockerel. It acts like a roo....always last one in the coop. Like walks around to make sure no one is left. When they come out in the morning "fluffy" is the last one out and usually goes back in to make sure no ones left.
So after a lot of searching for a pre-built coop and after a lot of reading on here about the quality of them I decided to build my own from scratch. After pricing out materials it also was going to prove to be significantly cheaper if I built myself.
Started out with a trip to Lowes for...
So I am constructing my first coop (will provide pictures soon) and am getting ready to put the walls on. Is having the wall made out of T1-11 siding sufficient, or should that go on top of a plywood (OSB) sub layer for additional insulation?
I would LOVE one or two Frizzled EE Hen/Pullet's.
I am in Hunterdon County and could easily pick up. I have been looking for a colored egg layer and the Frizzled's are soooo cute
We have her separated from the other chicks right now, it looks better this morning.
I put betadyne on it last night and again this morning. It is ok to put like Bacitracin on it? I wasn't sure but I could do so.
She is definitely eating and drinking, and I put some Poly-Vi-Sol in her...
Hello. I was looking at one of our chicks making sure we didn't have a pasty butt recurrence and one of our dogs sneaked by me and nipped the chick.
There was some light bleeding and some loss of feathers (see photo).
We cleaned the area with some peroxide on a Qtip and segregated her from...
So I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on making a coop out of a 4x6 resin shed like the one in the attached link. I was thinking a small door could be cut in the side which would lead to a run, my chicks will be free ranged most of the time but I also want a run for times when I don't...
Hi,
I wanted to take a moment to say Hi, I am new to BYC and this past weekend we picked up our first ever chicks from our local TSC. We have 6 ISA Browns, and 2 Silkie Bantams and are very excited to start raising these little darlings. We are in the North East (NJ). Trying to decide on...
