    Winter water?

    Yes, please use some sort of strain relief on the tin penetration to prevent shocks and coop fires. Also, if the tin is metal, it should be grounded to prevent it from becoming electrified in the case of a frayed cord. I found this cord which includes both strain relief and a ground.
