I have 5 girls that started laying around the mid August. I have a Cuckoo Marians, a Rhode Island Red, 2 Barred Rocks and a Lt. Bramah. One of my BR has one eye and a deformed beak, her head looked like is was smooshed in on one side and my Bramah has a crossed beak so they get wet mash with...
I use a large raised dog bowl. To make it easier on myself, I make enough crumble mixed with water fo feed all my girls Fluffy get a 5 to 10 minute head start. When she was still growing I added Exact handfeeding bird formula to the mash. It really helped her catch up.
She gets crumble mixed with water and baby chick grit twice a day in a raised dog bowl. I was also adding exact baby hand feeding powder to the mash when she was falling behind in the growth department. Now I add a layer supplement to mash. I wasn’t sure if she would lay eggs but she is and...
Thanks for the response! I was worried about how long to wait to give her something. It took a long time to get the bleeding to stop because of the angle.
I just did the same thing! How did you treat her after you got the bleeding stopped. I’m terrified to give her any food or water because it might start bleeding again.
I have a girl with a hooked beak I trimmed off to much from the top and it’s started bleeding. The quick stop really didn’t help. So from being on here I used corn starch and eventually it stopped bleeding. It was a long and scary processes. Because of the shape of her beak it’s hard to get...
I have not found anyone willing to take him. He is such a good boy, just very vocal. So I'll keep him until I can't anymore. I'm going to keep him inside until he's done crowing in the mornings. Thanks for the info!
I have a 15 week old Cuckoo Maran rooster that needs a new home. I would love to keep him but I'm not supposed to have him in my municipality. He is crowing and it just a matter of time before someone complains. At least right now he's a very well behaved boy.
Hi Everyone,
I have a 12 week old chicken with a bad cross beak. I use an elevated dog bowl to feed her with and this works fairly well. But I've noticed that she is having trouble with the waterer we have. What are others using? The are they are moving out to the coop in a week or so and I have...
I have a 7 week old light brahma with a severe scissor beak. We bought a jar of hand feeding parrot food (formula?) and have been adding some of that to her mash and it has really made a difference. She is gaining weight steadily and she is much more active.
